Specialist Periodontal Treatments

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Treatment involves deep cleaning (root surface debridement) under local anaesthetic, and in advanced cases, periodontal surgery to access deep pockets and regenerate lost bone.

Gum recession can make teeth appear overly long and cause severe sensitivity. Using advanced microsurgical techniques, we can graft using tissue from the palate or from alternative collagen sources to rebuild the lost gum line, restoring a natural, healthy smile.

If you have a “gummy smile”, aesthetic crown lengthening can reveal more of your natural teeth. Functionally, it is often required to expose more sound tooth structure so your dentist can place a well-fitting crown or bridge.

Josephine offers a range of treatments around implants, such as routine maintenance, and providing grafts to thicken the tissues around the implant to prevent future disease around the implant.

If there is peri-implant disease such as peri-implantitis, then she offers non-surgical treatment, and surgical treatment such as additional bone grafts around an implant that has developed disease. Sometimes she can provide gum grafts for compromised implants that are showing the metal collar (dehiscence), to make them look better and more natural.

Josephine has also had training and can offer laser therapy with use of a diode laser, which can also be used in a range of treatments, such as haemangiomas of the lip, periodontal therapy, implant therapy, frenectomies and treatment of sore gums such as lichen planus.

Anti-wrinkle treatments can be provided to help lower the lip to hide a gummy smile or the treatment of lines on the forehead, frown and crows feet lines around the eyes.
